Our approach
Roof & Lawn recommends products when they make an article more useful. We look for products that fit the job, have clear specifications, are available from established retailers and, when possible, have a meaningful history of customer feedback.
What we consider
- Suitability for the task and intended user
- Safety features and manufacturer instructions
- Customer ratings and the number and quality of reviews
- Price and overall value, not simply the lowest price
- Warranty, replacement parts and brand support where relevant
- Availability from retailers homeowners already use
- Whether a less expensive or simpler product would do the job just as well
Ratings and prices change
Retail prices, inventory and customer ratings can change quickly. We may describe the information available when an article was reviewed, but readers should always confirm the current retailer listing before purchasing.
Affiliate relationships
Some retailer links may eventually earn Roof & Lawn a commission if a reader makes a qualifying purchase. That does not change the price paid by the reader, and compensation should not determine whether a product is recommended.

Safety comes first
For products involving electricity, fire, fuel, ladders, chemicals, child safety or other meaningful hazards, manufacturer instructions and appropriate professional guidance take priority over a shopping recommendation.
Corrections and updates
If a product is discontinued, materially changed or no longer a good recommendation, we want to update it. Readers can contact Roof & Lawn when they spot outdated information.
